Political Poetry: Clown School

Congress Clown
Clown School
By Jane Lynahan Karklin

I had planned to go to clown school but it closed shop years ago.

In my trunk of forgotten dreams I packed away my orange wig and big red nose the flat shoes that clapped along the floor and the large yellow flower that sprayed water at the unwary.

The small clown car was donated to Goodwill.

After many doubt filled nights many dismal days I entered the political realm.

I now live in D.C. and am a member of the House of Representatives. I am happy to report my dream of a career as a clown has at long last been realized.
